September '23 Newsletter

Hello and Happy September!

My husband and I are welcoming a baby this fall, and we’re over the moon. I’m in my third trimester now, and I’ve been feeling the pull to slow down, though I’ve been fortunate to have a very relaxed pregnancy. This will be my last post in the Cooking Circle for a time, while I take the space to nest and find my footing in motherhood. Meanwhile, all of your monthly payments will be paused. I actually had to completely cancel your subscriptions in order to pause the payments because of the limitations of the platform that I’m using. I wish that wasn’t the case, but I couldn’t find a workaround. I’ll send out a newsletter when I’m back here, and at that point you can resubscribe if you’d like. The good news is that you will still have full access to the two years of content on the Cooking Circle. Thank you again for being here!

The best place to find me during this transitional period will be the Substack Newsletter that I’m starting. I’m still finalizing exactly what it will be, but here’s the description I have so far: A cosy newsletter to fill your plate and cup, with diary-like entries about cooking food, making things by hand, creating nourishing rituals, embracing the seasons, being a homebody, and the magic of daily life. I’m excited about writing more blog and diary style again, as well as expanding into topics other than food. Would love to have you there!

This month’s class features a day of intuitive cooking. I make peaches & cream overnight oats, white bean gazpacho, and crispy polenta with broccolini and lentils.

Seasonal Pleasures and Other Things

⁕ I’m very much into all of the stone fruit in season right now, especially white nectarines and white peaches. I find that the white varieties are the sweetest and juiciest this year, at least in my area.

⁕ I’ve been trying out a practice, where I do one thing to make my home nicer every day, and it’s made such a difference. Especially since I’m super sensitive to my environment and spend a lot of time at home. It can be something small like wiping down hard to reach shelves or putting flowers in multiple rooms, or more of a project like washing all the curtains or reorganizing cabinets, depending on how much time I have. It’s a nice approach for chipping away at overwhelming tasks. Highly recommend!

⁕ Currently enjoying the Blue Zones documentary on Netflix.

Wishing you a beautiful September,
